Dear Boston 2 - "OMG. ITS BLUE & CREAM FROM NYC PREP!!!!"

Dear Boston,
So its day four in Dobbs Ferry and I’m not sure what to expect. I’m still trying to be social but I’m not sure if its completely working. Either I’m doing it and its not working or its just not working. At this point, I don’t care and I should let things go with the flow. I have such a strong fear of not getting to know anyone that I’m freaking out which I shouldn’t do.

Did I tell you that the food here is iffy/good? When I mean iffy/good I mean its good but sometimes its iffy. Kinda an improvement to Nobles but that’s probs I’m in a new environment. Also, we go out a lot to go eat so that plays into it. Every morning I get a bagel (anything that isn’t plain) with cream cheese with chives and SALMON. Isnt that crazy? Definitely a step up than Nobles. My friend, Oliver, said, “Well at least they’re feeding you well.” Which is true. I feel fat though when I go out to eat at the Master’s dining hall because I always get a plate of the hot meal and a plate of salad where as everyone just gets one plate of something.

ALSO, the check-in time is a huge difference than Nobles. We have to be in the building at 10PM opposed to 9PM. And we can walk around Dobbs Ferry all by ourselves if we want to. I’ve done it (emo as that seems) but I went to go get stamps to mail post cards to my friends. Kinda crazy. And we don’t have a formal bedtime. Its pretty chill here which I’m not sure about since I like structure but I have to take it since college will be sorta similar.

Just got a text that our morning meeting at 10:30 is now moved to 4:30. Grr because I would’ve slept until 11. Whatever.
Theres a dog walk which I’m still iffy on because walking yesterday was a paaaaain in the butt. Actually. We walked around the city which was fine but then when we got back to Dobbs Ferry and had to walk up a ton of hills, ugghhh…kill me. Not to mention I hate walking through the Masters campus because its huge and I get lost so easily. But since I forgot my running sneakers and cant go to the gym, I should take the offer on the walk. More exercise for me…. :/

OH YEA. I have so much to write. So if you don’t want to read, don’t. Yesterday was our first day into the city and we had a scavenger hunt based on the book we read, Ragtime. It was so cool because we explored many neighborhoods and landmarks like the Lower East Side and the Pierpoint Morgan Library. As the huge Gossip Girl and NYC Prep fan that I am, I freaked when I saw show land marks like Grand Central Station (Serena in Season 1), Columbus Circle (when PC apologized to Jessie after throwing the water bottle at her), and Blue & Cream (when Jessie got pissed when PC was late to meeting up with her). CRAZY CRAZY. :) I took a ton of pics but I left my memory card reader at home so I think I'm going to ask someone if they have one.

Anyways, I have homework to since I’m already awake.

Dear Boston 1 - "In New Yooooorkk...Concrete jungle where dreams are made of...."

Dear Boston,
So today's my second day in New York. I'm a little iffy on it so far. I want to make a gazillion friends here but I'm usually too tired to. I'm lame. I know.

LIVING
So I have 2 roomies which is different than what I'm used to but I'm pretty cool with them so far. Nothing scary which is awesome. :) The other people here are nice but some people I'm iffy on but whatevs. Its just the beginning. Also, 3 showers for 22 girls?!?! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!? I don't know. Whatever.

CLASSES
So far the classes are pretty weird...The first class was about being observant and creating thoughts off of them. We went outside and looked around. Starting each sentence with "I wonder..." So its like "I wonder who made this tree." or "I wonder who decided to throw a diaper behind the dumpster." Randomness but so funny. And my second class is about thinking (I think) and about how to learn. Kinda weird I know but so far its interesting. OMG. I totally forgot about the intimidating Spanish teacher. So we were pretty much interviewed by the teacher to pretty much figure out where we stand and what we learned. I havent been in classes for a month and this woman dished out Spanish to me and I was like "WHAT THE FRIGGER?!?" So yea...

THE TOWN
Its so small here and I hate walking around. Maybe because its cold and I forgot my sneakers but mehh.... And I get lost walking to get to the town.

Okay. I have to go because I have to be on my floor in 10 mins.
Peace out.

Story of My Life

This is a response to Ben Fainlight's post.

I dress well. I try to be chill. I make funny jokes. I flirt. I’m nice. I’m honest. I think I’m pretty (pretty enough to get a boyfriend at least). I’m sorta smart. I’m actually pretty darn cool. And yet, my last actual relationship was Dec 07-August 08 to a guy who turned out to be gay. Like what the fucking hell. Even he told me that I was a good gf. I know I would be a good girlfriend. I mean I know I’m still young and all and I should wait until college to pursue an actual relationship but I don’t care. What about those rare couples who end up marry their high school sweet hearts. I’m starting to slowly give up until college but what’s the fun in that…except for the fact that you know no one wants to be interested in you. I’m trying to make this semester the best I can while I’m spending my semester away but to be quite honest, how much of a difference will switching schools make? I’m just going to pump up my confidence this semester and see how things will work out.

So dear Ben,

You’re not the only one.

MLK Day

Happy MLK Day.
In celebration, my friend/mentor, Andrea, and I did some community service at BLA with a gazillion of other people in the MA area. We pretty much did a gazillion murals for the school. The following is the one my group worked on:
I CANT FIND IT ON MY CELL AHHH! I'll visit BLA and take a pic of it later.

And then I saw other cool art around the school that I took snap shots of:

Lookin' like a fool wit yo' pants on the ground

As you may or may not know, I LOVE watching American Idol. Or lovED. The first couple of seasons were amazing but now everything is going downhill. Kara joined, Paula left, Simon's leaving, the winners aren't THAT great, auditions are getting scarier, Meh... So I started watching it this season, missed the Boston which STINKS, but so far no one stuck out to me as much as this guy...

He's so epic that everyone's been making covers of his song...

What a G.

What can Brown do for you? Scott Brown that is...

So every time I hear or see Scott Brown I think its weird because I was obsessed with Ayla Brown and I knew Arianna Brown (his two daughters). I don't follow politics but I can't stand any of Martha's attack ads. They make her look so desperate but other people disagree with me and think that its natural. Whatevvsss....

I'm mature. I know. Like I said, I'm not up for anyone but she started it and its my job to even up the playing field. :)

Edit: It says "If you need a ride to the polls..." Seriously? Are taxi companies in support of her too? Nice.

Locks of Love Round 2

My new haircut!
I donated to Locks of Love at Dekwa Salon on Newbury Street in Boston. Thanks to my stylist, Meg! She was cool and was really really precise according to Brett. Although the hair cut was really long (2 hrs), it was free so... :)

Freshman: are you still at nobles?
Jenni: Sorta but not really. I have January basically off but I'm coming back for college stuff. Yuck. I'll be around randomly though. How are the dorms so far for the second semester?
Freshman: umm.. well brianna is doing her work efficiently like always but the other girls are the same too... mysef on the other hand realized that i need to stop screwing around and get down to business i am in study hall right now and have all my homework done i am going to do more work i need to go to a good college that's w...hy i am here at nobles and i think i just noticed that :)
Jenni: Dude. You're a freshman take a chill pill. Start freaking out JUNIOR year. I wish I did but clearly my conscience is broken because I need to get MY act together. Grr... I need to work hard when I'm in NY but it'll be so hard because of the pretty distractions of the city...GAH. And it doesnt help now that I should be ...doing my "winter" reading for the semester and that I should be studying for the SAT but my arm hurts a lot from the flu shot but that has nothing to do with anything besides the difficulty of writing this post...RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE. I miss you and wish I got to know you more... :(

There was a guy singing on the train today. I don't think he was aware of it but it was cute and made my day. :)

btws...I have a tumblr. so if you're a tumblr. user just follow me there. I'll post pretty much everything here to there too. :)

Please keep in contact with me though while you are away, because if you are coming back to Boston for the summer, I would love to bring you in and show you what it's like to be preparing for the shows with the designers, models, etc. It is very exciting and stressful, but definitely something you should get a chance to see if you are thinking about a career in the fashion industry.

Good luck in New York and I hope to hear from you when you get back to Boston!
